Vijayapura

Vijayapura, still widely known by its older name Bijapur, was the capital of the Adil Shahi sultanate for two centuries, and the Gol Gumbaz they built as Mohammed Adil Shah's mausoleum has one of the largest domes on earth built without internal pillar support. A whispering gallery inside carries a whisper audibly across its full diameter, a trick of acoustics that still draws crowds.
