Tulum

Tulum is a small Caribbean town that has become an international wellness, design, and brand-content hub. Yoga teachers, breathwork facilitators, holistic practitioners, chefs, photographers, videographers, models, and event producers move between the Pueblo, the beach zone, and the surrounding jungle for shoots, retreats, weddings, and brand activations. The local Maya community remains central to the area's identity and economy. Clients come for the light against jungle and white sand, the cenote network within driving distance, and a retreat infrastructure that can host fifty guests for a week without any of them leaving the property. Logistics are slower than Mexico City; bookings are tighter than they look, especially November to March, and last-minute holes get filled by traveling talent from CDMX, Mérida, and Playa del Carmen.

Tulum's tables run from Yucatecan staples (cochinita pibil, papadzules, sopa de lima, panuchos) to ceviches sourced from Sian Ka'an and Holbox, plus a serious wood-fired and farm-to-table scene that has grown along the beach road and inland near Aldea Zama. Aguas frescas, tamarindo, and chaya juice are everywhere. Reserve dinner inland during peak season; the beach road becomes a single line of traffic after sundown. Pesos and cards both work, but smaller beach businesses still favor cash. The beach road has had recurring power and water outages; production teams should plan a generator and a water supply for any shoot longer than half a day. Drone use is restricted around the archaeological zone and over the lagoon; check with INAH and SCT before flying.
