Bucharest

Bucharest is Romania's capital and its production and tech capital, a city of grand, sometimes crumbling Belle Époque architecture alongside the vast Communist-era Palace of the Parliament, one of the world's largest administrative buildings. A fast-growing film, animation, and outsourced production scene serves Western European and North American clients drawn by cost and a genuinely skilled crew base. Studios cluster around Old Town (Lipscani), Herăstrău, and the Buftea studio complex outside the city. Romanian and English both function as working languages on international sets.

Sarmale (stuffed cabbage rolls), mici (grilled minced-meat rolls), papanași (fried dough with sour cream and jam), and a serious wine tradition from nearby vineyards define the food scene. Old Town (Lipscani) has become the city's dense nightlife core. The Palace of the Parliament dominates sightlines and requires advance arrangement for any filming inside or immediately around it.
