Corpus Christi Catholic Academy Trust wishes to appoint a Teaching Assistant Level 3 at Saint Paul's Catholic High School in the Autism Resource Provision.

The role:

  • To provide high-quality, personalised support to pupils with autism within the school’s Autism Resource Provision, enabling them to regulate, engage in learning, develop independence and participate as fully as possible in school life.
  • To work closely with teachers, the Resource Provision team, pastoral staff, families and relevant professionals to understand and respond to individual pupils’ needs. They will use a calm, consistent and autism-informed approach to support pupils with communication, sensory, emotional and behavioural regulation, while promoting positive relationships and increasing pupils’ confidence and independence.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience of working with children or young people with SEND, ideally including pupils with autism.
  • Have a good understanding of autism and the potential impact of communication, sensory processing, anxiety and environmental demands on a young person’s ability to regulate and learn.
  • Be able to establish positive, respectful and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Have a calm, patient and consistent approach, particularly when supporting pupils experiencing anxiety or dysregulation.
  • Be able to recognise individual differences and adapt their approach accordingly.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Be able to follow individualised plans and implement agreed strategies consistently.
  • Have the ability to encourage independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
  • Be able to maintain accurate records and communicate observations clearly.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and improving outcomes for young people.
  • Be willing to undertake relevant training and continue developing their knowledge and practice.
  • Have strong moral and ethical principles and values
  • Be able to adapt and respond appropriately to challenging situations
  • Be open to new ideas, committed to working as part of a team and of course have a good sense of humour
  • Act with the utmost integrity at all times

We can offer the successful candidate:

  • An opportunity to work within a welcoming and enthusiastic environment with wonderful children, supportive staff, governors and parents
  • Close links and group support from other schools in this forward thinking Catholic multi-academy trust in this exciting time in our development
