Salary: $44,545 - $74,134 (annual)

The New York City Housing Authority is seeking a Community Associate for the Resident Relocations Services Department. This role is to support relocation of NYCHA residents at developments where planned major modernization or unplanned urgent repairs are required, including repairs to address health and safety issues. Under general supervision of the Community Coordinator, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, the Community Associate conducts the Intake Survey and Moving Assessments. In addition, the Community Associate duties will also be responsible for the following: Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide community services by performing liaison functions between the agency and residents. • Connect residents with interpretation services in accordance with the agency’s Language Assistance Service Policy. • Help clients fill out and submit forms. • Support intake procedures, resident follow-up. • Assist with contacting residents and collecting information related to relocation needs, as directed by the coordinator. • Assist with distributing informational materials to residents and internal/external stakeholders. • Help maintain schedules and calendars for relocation activities and resident appointments. • Assist with routine office duties, including data entry, filing, recordkeeping, answering telephones, taking messages, and making referrals. • Perform other related duties and provides general administrative support as assigned by the coordinator. • Interpret and discuss the Resident Relocation Services Department’s Standard Procedures with individual tenants. • Support the coordination of meetings, appointments, and other relocation-related activities. Work Environment: This position requires both office work and field work, including visits to homes, hotels, etc., within the five boroughs of New York City. Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements 1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or 2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

  • Candidates should have excellent communication skills, a strong sense of community, and a willingness to serve the public. 2. Experience in community service or related fields is a plus.
