The role could be particularly well suited to someone looking to take their first steps into teaching, an experienced private tutor, a recent mathematics graduate, or an experienced teacher looking for a flexible role or a move towards semi-retirement. Qualified Teacher Status is not essential, and we are interested in hearing from people from a range of backgrounds who have strong mathematical knowledge and the ability to build positive relationships with young people.
Working closely with our Maths department, the majority of the role will be to provide 1:1 and small-group tuition to students preparing for their maths GCSE. You may also be required to support students within maths lessons and help students with their maths homework. You will monitor students’ understanding and progress, provide feedback and adapt your support to help individuals overcome gaps in their knowledge and achieve their potential. The role may also include preparing resources and supporting with examinations and wider school activities.
