Senior Accountant Central Europe - Gothenburg

Are you an experienced accounting professional looking to take on a key role in an international environment? We are looking for a Senior Accountant / Senior Accounting Manager with strong expertise in accounting, financial reporting, compliance, SOX, and Shared Service Center operations.

You will play a central role in managing accounting and financial reporting operations across Central Europe, covering legal entities in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.

Key responsibilities include:

• Oversee accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, and inventory accounting.

• Lead and collaborate with Shared Service Center (SSC) teams and SSC Team Leads.

• Review and oversee month-end, half-year, and year-end closing processes.

• Ensure implementation and compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

• Ensure SOX compliance and oversee controls performed by the SSC team.

• Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, reports, and financial analyses.

• Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS, statutory requirements, tax regulations, and relevant legal requirements.

• Collaborate with internal and external auditors and regulatory authorities.

• Drive process improvements and identify opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy.

• Work closely with Group Accounting, Tax, Internal Control, and other cross-functional stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role.

• Proven experience managing and collaborating across Shared Service Center accounting teams.

• Deep knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, financial reporting, and compliance.

• Experience working in a U.S.-listed company environment, with a strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and related regulatory requirements.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.

• Strong experience with accounting software and ERP systems.

• Experience identifying process gaps and driving optimization initiatives.

• Ability to work effectively in complex, matrixed organizations.

• Fluent English, both written and spoken.

• Master’s degree, MBA, and/or CPA certification.

• Experience within the automotive industry or a related sector.

• Experience with dealership management systems.

• Knowledge of German, Italian, and/or French.

• Experience working across European markets.
