Staff Fullstack Engineer

Deep Tech Recruitment is partnering with a Speedinvest venture-backed European AI company building the modern software backbone for specialist pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturers.

Its mission is to strengthen the resilience of essential European supply chains by helping manufacturers overcome skilled labour shortages, respond faster to disruption and reduce the operational risk created by ageing ERP systems, spreadsheets and fragmented knowledge. The business is developing an AI-native operating environment that provides consistent data and intelligent workflows across order management, production planning, materials planning and procurement, while retaining the human oversight required in regulated industries.

The company

The company is building an AI native software backbone for specialist manufacturers, initially across mission critical pharmaceutical and chemical supply chains. Many of these businesses still run critical order, planning and procurement processes through ageing ERP systems, spreadsheets and knowledge held by a small number of experienced employees.

The product combines workflow automation, AI agents and human approval to help operational teams respond faster while maintaining accuracy, traceability and compliance. The engineering team works close to customers, including visits to operational environments, to understand how work happens and turn it into dependable software.

The role

As an early staff engineering hire, you will help shape the platform from its first production versions. This is a hands on full stack role with strong backend ownership. You will work directly with the founders, influence architecture and engineering standards, and stay close to the users whose workflows you are improving.

What you will do

• Build end to end product features with TypeScript, Node.js, React and Next.js.

• Design and evolve backend services, APIs and system architecture for complex operational workflows.

• Model and optimise data in PostgreSQL, with attention to reliability, performance and auditability.

• Develop multi step AI agent workflows with validation logic, evaluations, monitoring and human approval points.

• Integrate with enterprise systems including ERPs, communication tools and document platforms through REST APIs and other interfaces.

• Support cloud and on premises deployments, working directly with customer IT teams where required.

• Build secure, traceable workflows suitable for regulated environments and contribute to audit readiness and compliance documentation.

• Join customer conversations, understand real operating constraints and translate them into product and technical decisions.

• Help establish the engineering culture, technical bar and practical ways of working for the team as it grows.

What AI native means here

The company uses external language models and coding agents to build and ship software faster. The role involves engineering reliable AI enabled workflows around those models. It does not involve training foundation models or conducting AI research. Strong software engineering judgement remains central, particularly around evaluation, failure modes, observability and human oversight.

What you bring

• Around 3 to 5 or more years of experience building and operating production software.

• Strong backend engineering skills with Node.js, API design and system architecture.

• Solid PostgreSQL experience, including data modelling and query optimisation.

• Experience integrating REST APIs and external systems.

• The ability to work across the stack using JavaScript or TypeScript and React or Next.js.

• A hands on approach. You can reason about architecture and still write, test and ship production code.

• Fluent English for technical collaboration and customer conversations.

• The willingness to work with the team from the Berlin office five days a week.

Useful additional experience

• Enterprise software or products built for regulated, high security environments.

• LLM integrations using providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google, including evaluation and monitoring.

• ERP integrations such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Infor.

• Cloud infrastructure, DevOps and connections to on premises or legacy systems.

• German language skills for direct customer communication.

• Strong product and UX instincts, or experience working with design systems.

Interview process

The process combines founder & engineering conversations with practical technical assessment. You should expect an architecture discussion and a hands-on coding exercise focused on how you think, communicate and build with modern engineering tools, including AI-assisted development.
