Do you want to build bank vaults, morgues, abandoned amusement parks, and space stations as part of your job? We build escape rooms, and we're looking for a practical, hands-on builder with carpentry skills, a good eye for design, a basic understanding of electronics, and a knack for solving problems.
We've a workshop of just over 200 square meters, where we have installed laser cutters, 3D printers, plotter, woodworking machinery, and we have a large inventory of electronics, screws, sheet materials, paint etc. Since we're honestly not the best carpenters ourselves, we're hoping you'll come in as the star of the workshop and take the lead. We build everything as one-off creations-there's very little mass production. Sometimes we build from sheet materials, and other times we modify old furniture, radios, or second-hand items to create the right atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Design and prototype puzzles and set pieces
- Plan and purchase materials
- Create CAD designs, cut materials with saws, and assemble using glue, nails, and screws
- Decorate using brushes, spray paint, propane torches, laser engraving, or printing
- Install and test electronic components such as magnetic switches, key switches, RFID readers, speakers, and LED strips
- Install completed builds on-site and perform testing and commissioning
Personal Qualities
- A healthy amount of professional pride. What we build needs to be good enough to create a great customer experience and withstand tens of thousands of hands pulling and tugging on it. It doesn't need to be perfect, and we don't always have the time or budget to strive for perfection.
- Patient and organized. Your closest colleagues are creative, visionary, and somewhat chaotic.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to assess, prioritise, and make decisions. There are no work-order systems, salespeople, or production managers.
- Technically curious. You don't need to know how to program, but you should have a genuine interest in technology and enjoy solving technical challenges.
Qualifications
- Fluent in Swedish or English
- Category B driver's license (standard passenger vehicle licence)
