What to plan for before you go

Five things worth checking before you book, not after.

Import and quarantine rules

Pet import difficulty varies a lot by destination, and some countries require a quarantine period or a blood titer test booked months in advance. Check the specific rule for your pet's species and your route before you book flights.

Vet access at your destination

Know where the nearest vet clinic is before you need one, and carry your pet's vaccination and health records with you, not just on your phone.

Pet-friendly transport

Public transit, ride-share, and taxi rules for pets differ by city: some allow leashed dogs, some require a carrier, some charge a small fee. Check the local transport notes before you rely on a specific option.

Pet-friendly accommodation

Pet-friendly does not always mean pet-free of extra cost. Some cities and landlords charge higher deposits or pet rent, so confirm the total cost before booking.

Book a pet photographer

Traveling with a pet is worth documenting properly. Search the platform for Photography talent in the city you are visiting and contact them directly, many photographers shoot pets alongside people.

Pet travel FAQ

What paperwork do pets need to travel internationally?

Requirements vary by country and by species, but commonly include an up-to-date vaccination record, a health certificate from a vet issued close to travel, and sometimes a microchip or import permit. Check the specific requirement for your destination well in advance, some countries require tests booked months ahead.

Are the launch-hub cities pet friendly?

Pet-friendliness varies by city. The city cards on this page show a live pet-friendly score plus import difficulty and transport notes for each of the current launch-hub cities, pulled directly from our city data.

How much does pet care cost while traveling?

Monthly pet care costs (grooming, boarding, routine vet visits) differ by city, sometimes by a wide margin. Check the estimate on the relevant city card before you budget a longer stay.

Can I find a pet photographer through the platform?

Yes. Search Photography talent in the city you are visiting and contact them directly to ask whether they shoot pets. Browsing and messaging talent is free for clients.

What if my pet needs veterinary care while traveling?

Locate the nearest vet clinic before you need one, keep digital and paper copies of vaccination records, and check whether your pet insurance (if you have it) covers care abroad.

Do airlines allow pets in the cabin?

Some do, within size and weight limits, and usually for an extra fee. Rules differ by airline and by route, so confirm directly with the airline rather than assuming your last flight's policy still applies.
