The Role

Due to the continued development and expansion of our Pastoral, SEN and Inclusion provision, we are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Casual Learning Support Assistants to join our highly experienced team.

This is an exciting opportunity to support students who require additional intervention and assistance to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with students, staff and families to ensure that all learners can access education successfully and confidently.

The position provides valuable experience supporting students with a range of learning, pastoral and additional needs within a successful secondary school environment. It is particularly suited to aspiring teachers, graduates, former education professionals, youth workers, or those seeking flexible and rewarding employment.

This casual Learning Support Assistant role offers excellent flexibility, making it ideal for individuals who are not looking to commit to fixed weekly hours.

Whether you are balancing family commitments, studying, returning to work, semi-retired, or looking to gain valuable experience before pursuing a career in teaching or another education-related profession, this role allows you to work on an as-needed basis while making a real difference to young people's lives.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Support

Provide targeted support to students, including those with special educational needs, ensuring they can access learning and participate fully in school life.

Building Independence

Encourage students to develop confidence, resilience and independence whilst maintaining high expectations for achievement and behaviour.

Learning and Progress

Support teaching and learning activities and provide feedback to students under the guidance of the class teacher.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Good qualifications to at least GCSE level (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.
  • Experience of working with children or young people in an educational, community or support setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive professional relationships with students.
  • A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and student wellbeing.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting students' needs.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • An understanding of and commitment to the school's Christian ethos and values.
