We are looking for experienced DevOps professionals to join our panel of freelance technical interviewers. In this role, you will conduct structured technical interviews to evaluate candidates for DevOps, Cloud, Platform, and SRE positions on behalf of our clients. You will assess real-world skills, problem-solving ability, and practical experience rather than just theoretical knowledge.
This is a flexible, remote freelance opportunity ideal for senior DevOps engineers, SREs, or platform engineers who want to contribute to hiring quality while maintaining control over their schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical interviews (typically 45-90 minutes) via video call
- Evaluate candidates across core DevOps domains, including:
- CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, etc.)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Pulumi)
- Containerization & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Bare metal infrastructure (server provisioning, hardware management, OS installation, networking, RAID, IPMI/BMC, PXE, and related low-level operations)
- Linux system administration, networking, and troubleshooting
- Monitoring, observability, logging, and incident response
- Security best practices (DevSecOps), secrets management, and compliance
- Scripting & automation (Bash, Python)
- Design or adapt interview questions, live coding/troubleshooting exercises, and system design scenarios
- Assess both technical depth and soft skills (communication, systems thinking, incident handling mindset)
- Provide clear, structured written feedback and scoring after each interview
- Maintain consistency and fairness in evaluation standards
- Optionally support take-home assessments or pair-programming sessions
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer, SRE, Platform Engineer, or similar role
- Proven bare metal experience
- Strong practical expertise in modern DevOps toolchains and cloud-native practices
- Proven ability to evaluate technical competence through structured questioning and real-world scenarios
- Excellent communication skills in English (clear articulation, active listening, constructive feedback)
- Ability to remain objective, professional, and candidate-friendly while probing deeply
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet environment for video interviews
- Availability for scheduled interviews (flexible hours preferred)
Nice to Have
- Prior experience as a technical interviewer, hiring manager, or mentor
- Experience interviewing for mid-to-senior or staff-level roles
- Familiarity with interview platforms and assessment tools
- Relevant certifications (CKA, AWS/Azure/GCP professional-level, Terraform Associate, etc.)
- Experience with hybrid environments (bare metal + cloud)
