Accounting Manager

$110k - $130k base + 20% bonus + exceptional benefits,

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager will lead day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain internal controls, and support month-end close and forecasting for a fast-growing CPG beauty company. This role partners closely with operations, sales, supply chain, and finance to deliver timely, audit-ready financials and scalable accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes; prepare journal entries, reconciliations, account analysis, and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain GAAP-compliant general ledger and ensure accurate, timely financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual).
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting.
  • Manage cost accounting for COGS, SKU-level cost tracking, inventory valuation (FIFO/LIFO/weighted avg), and periodic inventory counts.
  • Reconcile and analyze bank accounts, merchant/acquirer settlements, and credit card activity.
  • Support revenue recognition and contract accounting in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Prepare variance analysis vs. budget/forecast and support the FP&A team with month-end commentary.
  • Coordinate audits and tax filings with external auditors and tax advisors; prepare audit schedules and respond to inquiries.
  • Develop and document accounting policies, internal controls, and process improvements to scale with growth.
  • Implement and optimize accounting systems (ERP/IMS/integrations with Shopify, Amazon, 3PLs, payment processors).
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff; delegate tasks and conduct performance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with sales tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory requirements; coordinate with external partners as needed.
  • Ad-hoc analysis and project work to support strategic business initiatives (pricing, margin analysis, SKU rationalization).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 2+ years in a managerial or lead role; experience in CPG, retail, or beauty strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, month-end close, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Experience with inventory accounting, COGS, and cost accounting for SKU/product-level margins.
  • Proficiency with accounting software/ERPs (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct) and reporting tools; experience integrating e-commerce platforms (Shopify, Amazon), 3PLs, and payment gateways.
  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with SQL or BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI) a plus.
  • Experience managing external audits and tax compliance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience at a high-growth CPG or DTC beauty brand.
  • Familiarity with multi-entity accounting, international transactions, and foreign currency accounting.
  • Process automation experience (AP/AR automation, EDI, bank feed reconciliation tools).
